The stories of the sorcerous priest, Sæmundur the Wise, and his dealings with Old Nick and his demons, have been a part of Icelandic cultural heritage for centuries.

About twenty years ago twelve of these stories were collected and adapted, illustrated and translated for a modern international audience. For this 2nd edition, the illustrations have been beautifully reworked and coloured for a new generation of readers. Discover how Sæmundur the Wise escaped from the Black School, got back to Iceland and came up with numerous clever tricks to fend off Old Nick‘s attempts to steal his soul.
